Touring the Demonstration Gardens

Elder & Sister Squires from the Church's Food Initiative program came to teach us more about it.  We toured the demonstration gardens and they gave us the information we need to get the program started here.  The leadership in the branch will pick about 20 families to participate in the first phase and if they qualify, each family will be able to get money from the Church to start a garden to fit their families needs.  They can also get help with raising small animals such as chickens.  These little gardens were just to show what they can do with a little irrigation and to show them that a garden is possible, even in the dry season.

Christopher's garden is doing well.

Charles' garden.

President James' garden.

John's garden.  It has shelter from the hot sun.

It is doing well but we may need to tell him that it needs sun.

We all ended up back at our garden where we sat in our living room and learned more about the Food Initiative from Elder  Squires' and made plans for implementing it in our branch in Gulu.

  1. I love the garden's, that is so awesome you have got all that stuff to grow. I may need to hire you at my house when you get home :). Those little kids are so cute how can you not just pick them up and squeeze them? Love the pictures!
