Our Home in Gulu

This is what the inside of our house looks like.  It's very comfortable.  Much better than what we had imagined.

Our Office and Closet
The Guest Room With One of our Closets
Our Bedroom.  It's only big enough for our bed and two little nightstands.
Our Living Room and Front Door.  The steel door has a large sliding bolt with a padlock.  All of the windows have bars on them.  We feel pretty safe in here.

Our Dining Room
Our Kitchen
The new cupboard we had made for our kitchen.

Our new cupboard from the side.  We love it!

Our  Bathroom
We use this bathroom for our shower room.
This is our hallway and laundry room.

Some minor repairs on the Elder's pickup, African style.
Elder Chaya with a Ugandan hoe.  This is the tool that all the field work is done with from plowing to cultivating.

Some Pictures of our Trip to Kampala

We crossed the Nile on the way to Kampala.
There are always baboons sitting on the sides of the road.

Crossing The Nile

We wouldn't want to go down this river in our kayak's.

We went to a farewell dinner in Kampala for one of the missionary couples who is leaving.

We had a great time in Kampala.  We stayed in the apartment building with another couple.  We shopped at a couple of stores and bought some things for our house that they don't have in Gulu.  It was fun shopping in real stores and finding the kinds of things that we're used to.  We found a craft store with items made in Uganda and bought some things to decorate our house.  Wish we would have bought more but it seemed so expensive when an item costs  50,000 shillings.  That's only about $20 in our money.  We figured that out when we got home.  We'll have something to look forward to next time we have to go to Kampala.  The trip took us 6 hours of intense driving so we don't want to go very soon

I wasn't quite ready to publish that last post yet so I guess I will try to fix it today.

The pictures are of  Richard, who is the new member in Pakwach.  The other one with the boda is his friend, Darius.  Here are some more pictures of Richard's village and his house and farm.  He works for the government and he also farms.  His wife and children live in another village.  The children and the other people also live in his village.  They loved having their pictures taken.  They gather around and pose and then have to see the picture on my camera.  I will print the pictures and then take them to them the next time we visit.

This is Richard's farm.  The hill is an ant hill.  They eat the ants.  They are white, we were told but we didn't see any.

Richard, holding the pumpkin he gave us with Sister Frost and me.  We cooked and ate it and it was really good!

A good picture of his house.
