ARRIVAL IN UGANDA
We arrived in Entebbe on Thursday morning, Sept. 29, 2011. We were met by the Sutterfield's, and the Frost's, and Godfrey, the driver. They had a nice big van so our luggage fit in just fine. They drove us to Kampala where the mission home is and where the missionary apartments are. We learned that we would be replacing the Frost's in a town north of here called Gulu. We will be staying here in Kampala in an apartment with the Frost's until we feel ready to travel again. They have been very kind and helpful to us and have helped us to get acquainted with the area and to teach us what our assignment is.
We didn't experience much jet lag probably because of our extra time in London. We kept waiting to get really tired but it never hit us.
We found the mission office, the distribution center and the Church building, bought some maps, had lunch at the apartment, and took a nap. Later that afternoon, we went out to dinner at a really upscale Chinese restaurant. We enjoyed our food there.
On Friday morning, Robert and Elder Frost went out so Robert could practice driving. That is important here. They drive on the left side of the road and driving is crazy here. The roads are full of cars, buses, vans, and motorcycles called boda boda's, and also lots of people. There doesn't appear to be any rules or stop signs. Everyone just crowds in and watches out to keep from getting run over or running over or into someone else.
Next time I'll post some pictures of Kampala.
