We spent Sunday night at Eric and Stephanie's house and Eric took us to the airport on Monday morning. We flew from Salt Lake City to Chicago and from there to London. In London, we had a 12 hour layover so we got a room at the Comfort Inn, which was a 15 minute bus ride from the airport, and slept all day. When we went to catch the bus back to the airport, we discovered that our watches were 1 hour behind and that the bus we were getting on was to another terminal. The next bus didn't come for 45 more minutes so the driver took us to his terminal and then told us how to catch a train to the right terminal. That worked and we got to our gate just in time to board.
About two hours into our flight, the pilot came over the intercom to tell us that something technical was wrong with the airplane and that we were going back to London. They also had to fly around long enough to get rid of some fuel as it would be hard to land with so much fuel. It was very late at night when we got back to London, and they put us all up at a hotel not far from the airport. It was a really nice one, but we couldn't sleep much because we had slept all day. We had to check out by 2:00 pm and then catch the 3:00 bus back to the airport and then wait for our departure time which was around 7pm. We found an Italian Restaurant in the airport which was wonderful and we spent a lot of time there.
They couldn't fix the airplane we were on originally so they put us on another one. Our flight to Entebbe took us about 8 hours. We arrived about 5:30 in the morning which was 2 hours before that flight usually got in so we waited until about 7:00 for someone to pick us up. |
