We're happy with the place we have to live. It's a little house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We use one bedroom for an office and the other for a guest room. Both bathrooms have a shower right in the middle and the drain is behind the toilet, so we use one just for a shower. The kitchen faucet barely trickles out so we use that bathroom to get water for the kitchen also. There is a washing machine and a wooden clothes rack we dry our clothes on. The master bedroom is barely big enough for our king size bed so our portable closets with shelves are in the other two bedrooms. The kitchen is small. It has cupboards on the bottom only and just a few so we ordered a cupboard to be made and it will fit next to the fridge. The stove is propane so we can still cook when the power is off (which is about half the time).
The furniture is nice and we feel very comfortable here.
Last night it rained just before we went to bed and that's very dramatic, usually. It came down in buckets full and the power was off so we sat on the porch and just watched it rain. It lasted only about 15 minutes.
There are three sets of missionaries who live in two houses across from us. There are six houses in all in this compound but we haven't seen anyone else. The compound is fenced and has a gate with a guard who is only there some of the time. We usually let ourselves in and out.
The garbage disposal system here in Uganda is interesting. They just pile it up and periodically burn it so we always smell burning trash.
